The growing tensions in the world, the electoral uncertainties, and above all the war of Russia against Ukraine and its threats to the territories of the Atlantic Alliance, stress the need to urgently improve in quality and volume the European operational and industrial Defence capabilities. This augments the absolute necessity to prepare ourselves as Europeans to the worse scenarios. We definitely need to spend more and better by reinforcing the common requirements among members states. At the same time, any possible defence procurement occasion has from now on to take into consideration the duty to reinforce the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB) through more consolidation at the prime contractor level and more competition in the supply chain (European Defence Equipment Market- EDEM) on a long-term vision.   Eurodefense Nederland doet aanbevelingen voor de verkiezingsprogramma's ter voorbereiding op de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen in november 2023. Het uitgangspunt van deze aanbevelingen is het als gevolg van de oorlog in Oekraïne snel groeiende belang van effectieve Europese samenwerking. Daarbij moet de Nederlandse Defensie zo snel mogelijk op orde worden gebracht. Dat vergt forse inspanningen en investeringen!

  EWG 18 - 30 Strengthen European defence – some perspectives  30 March 2023 On 18 May 2022, the European Commission published a Communication analysing, at the request of the Council, deficits in defence investment and possible remedies to overcome them. This document clearly highlights the need for Europeans to better work together, especially at a time when military expenditures will increase sharply in response to the war in Ukraine and draws some perspectives.

During this seminar views from the Netherlands on future European Defence cooperation were presented and discussed with an international audience. Presidents and board members of the 15   Eurodefense   associations participated as part of their 3 day conference. Members of KIVI Defence and Security and Eurodefense Nederland were also welcome to participate.
