Ukraine statement by EURODEFENSE presidents

The 15 presidents of the EURODEFENSE network of defence and security specialists across Europe, meeting today, 28 March 2022:

  1. Condemn in the strongest possible terms the invasion of Ukraine.
  2. Congratulate and admire the Ukrainian people for their courage in the face of Russian aggression
  3. Note the rapid reaction of the European Union and nations in their support of Ukraine
  4. Recognise that further massive European aid will be necessary to support refugees and to rebuild Ukraine
  5. Welcome the commitment of European nations to accelerate meeting or exceeding their NATO spending targets
  6. Believe that a collective approach to defence, security and resilience is more important than ever.
  7. Resolve to continue with renewed urgency the network’s studies on practical steps for mutual defence.

Hybrid seminar on European policies for Artificial Intelligence in Defence

  Eurodefense Netherlands and the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers  organise an  international seminar titled " European Policies for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Defence ". The seminar will take place in hybrid form on May 24th at KIVI in The Hague.  Follow this link to register . Early this year, the European Union adopted the groundbreaking European Union AI Act, marking a significant milestone in the regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. However, this law does not cover defence-related applications of AI. However, the development of AI in the defence sector is just as rapid as in other sectors of society. Initiatiefnota Europese Munitieproductie van Kamerleden Boswijk en Tuinman

  Eurodefense Nederland en de werkgroep Politiek en Defensietechniek van het Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs zijn verheugd met deze op 19 februari 2024 door de Kamerleden Tuinman en Boswijk aan de Tweede Kamer aangeboden initiatiefnota . Dit initiatief om de munitieproductie te versnellen en mogelijk ook in Nederland munitieproductie weer serieus ter hand te nemen is u iterst belangrijk om de leveringen aan Oekraïne mogelijk te maken en de eigen oorlogsvoorraden op peil te brengen.  Door de geopolitieke ontwikkelingen is zo'n initiatief wellicht ook op diverse andere terreinen van militaire productie noodzakelijk.  De initiatiefnota pleit deels voor versnelde munitieproductie in elders in Europa. Wij vragen ons af of de invloed vanuit Defensie en de Tweede Kamer significant is, waar het gaat om productie buiten Nederland. Daar zou de Europese Commissie of de Europese Raad d.m.v.  EDA misschien invloed op kunnen uitoefenen. Het primaat ligt daarbij immers in de landen waar dez
