Download PDF     An ambitious new European Commissioner for Defence In the current shifting global security dynamics and the increasing recognition of the need for a cohesive defence strategy, we as Eurodefense have taken a proactive stance in advocating for enhanced European defence cooperation. Since the inception of our federation in 1992, we continuously have emphasized the importance of a united approach to defence across Europe. This article intends to be a recommendation to the new European Commission, where Mr. Andrius Kubilius is the designated Commissioner for Defence.   Eurodefense-Portugal  en Eurodefense-Finland hebben een analyse gemaakt hoe klimaatverandering de veiligheid en defensie binnen de Europese Unie beïnvloedt. De auteurs onderzochten de risico's van extreme weersomstandigheden voor de stabiliteit van regio's en beschrijven het Europese beleid, zoals de European Green Deal . Aan de hand van een vergelijking tussen Portugal en Finland wordt getoond hoe landen met verschillende klimatologische omstandigheden nationale adaptatiemaatregelen implementeren. Het document benadrukt dat milieufactoren leiden tot nieuwe uitdagingen, waaronder humanitaire crises en conflicten over natuurlijke hulpbronnen. Tot slot worden aanbevelingen gedaan om de weerbaarheid te vergroten door nauwere samenwerking tussen overheden, militairen en lokale gemeenschappen.
